What to wear for your maternity photoshoot
Wear Solid Colours
Patterns can be distracting so, where possible, stick to plain clothing. You can add textures and layers to add interest. And don't forget your accessories like necklaces, bangles, Tiaras, etc.
Photos with others
If you're posing with a partner or kids then it's nice to match tones. But avoid being too matchy-matchy with your partner. Use similar tones. Blacks, Whites, and Neutral colours generally work the best.
Try a Maxi Dress
Floor or knee-length maxi dresses are incredibly flattering on a pregnant body. They focus on your beautiful baby bump while smoothing out and assisting areas you may deem troublesome.
Fitted Dresses
Wearing a tight, fitted maternity dress that shows off all your beautiful curves looks absolutely beautiful.
Long Train Dresses
These make for some stunning and classic maternity images. But they can be on the costly side.
You don't have to buy long train dresses. We would generally use drapes that match with your gown. And sometimes, we will add trains while editing your images, like the one we added in the last image
Sport a Saree
Wear what you are. If you are a Kathak dancer, I will suggest adding a kathak outfit to your maternity session dresses. Sarees can be made to look beautiful for maternity sessions.
Rent a Dress
Rent a totally over the top dress for one of your looks from services like DressRent. Renting services are quite new in India, so be a bit careful with T&C.
Unbuttoned
If you'd like a few bare bump photos but you're not comfortable with just wearing your underwear, then a button-up shirt, robe, or dress is a great idea.
Have Fun!
Whether it is lying down to do a lovely floral image or doing a semi-bare milk bath maternity session, the possibilities are endless in this special genre of pregnancy photography, that possibly only happens once in your life! Have fun!!
